I Hate Spelling Homework!

Why? Because it is boring! Last year my kids hated doing spelling homework, and I couldn’t find another way for them to do it besides writing their words three times. Sorry kids!

So this year, I’m going to try this that I created. Go ahead and grab it and leave some feedback in the comments section if you have any suggestions.

With this spelling grid, they’ll still have to write their words, but it makes writing their words a bit more fun. What do you use for spelling homework?

  1. I've been thinking about doing something similar to your idea too. I think it would be more fun for the students to pick the way to practice their spelling. Thanks for sharing your grid!! :)

  3. I've noticed lately that I cannot see what you are posting. I can read what you wrote, but then I get a big box that says Internet Explorer cannot display the... I'm assuming it is a document of sorts. Do you mind telling me what program you are using to post your documents? If I knew that I might be able to figure out what's wrong.
    Thanks,

    1. Oh no! I'm using Google Docs for the posts with the document. I'm sorry you're not able to see the items. I'm not sure what you (or perhaps I) might need to do concerning the Internet browser. I wonder if anybody else is having this issue??

  4. I don't like spelling homework as a parent or teacher. I do love www.spellingcity.com for those who need practice. Also, we played a spelling game "sparkle" daily. Word sorts are also great! :)

    1. I love spelling city as well. I always give my students the url to it at the beginning of the year so they can practice at home. I also use it in centers and the kids love it. I also play sparkle...very fun review game!
